10 facts about me

  1. I’m a rising junior studying at a top 3 liberal arts college.
  2. My favorite subject in high school was History.
  3. I’ve lived in 4 cities and 3 countries, moved a total of 6 times and lived in 8 different homes growing up.
  4. My favorite comfort food is Korean soondubu. I have no self-control when it comes to this food.
  5. Hiking is one of my favorite past-times. I’m not very athletic, but going to college in the greater Los Angeles area, the land of eternal sunshine, has made me more appreciative of nature. I love going on a nice long hike because it’s a great way to unplug from technology and simply be in the moment.
  6. I have the tendency to burst out laughing uncontrollably during the most inappropriate times, especially when I am feeling exceedingly nervous or awkward. This has happened twice, once during an English presentation and once during the filming for a French project. Let’s just say that it hasn’t been good for me both times.
  7. My dream school in high school was Columbia University. The core curriculum – the idea of being exposed to a broad range of ideas in the humanities – greatly appealed to me, and even now I believe in the transformative effect of a true liberal arts education.
  8. I’m an only child.
  9. Since a very young age, I’ve loved to read and write. My favorite book growing up was Harry Potter. When I discovered it in the second grade, I devoured the entire series in one summer. I felt like a real grown-up, reading such an advanced novel. It felt like I had discovered an entirely new universe so much richer and deeper than the kid books I had been reading before. As I’ve gotten older, I find it harder to enjoy reading for reading’s sake.
  10. If you ask me what’s one of the biggest tragedies in life, I’d say it’s the fact that so many people are resigned to the mundane reality of existence. They’ve been crushed by the weight of reality for so long that they’ve lost the ability to dream big, shackled to a set of limitations imposed by society, unable to reach their full potential. We need more dreamers and idealists.
